HostMonster

hostmonster reviewIt can sometimes be incredibly frustrating to find a decent hosting provider. Luckily you have us, the reviewers of aforementioned web hosting providers. One of those web hosting services is HostMonster.

Beginning by looking at the price, HostMonster’s pricing starts at $5.95 a month, a little on the upper scale of some of the hosting provider prices we’ve seen. Still, a lot of the time more money spent means more quality gained.

It seems that theory is true, since their customer support system is soley based in the US, and more specifically Provo, Utah. No more speaking to foreign, barely understandable customer support teams. I mean, it’s all well and good for companies to outsource these services, but we as consumers suffer as a result, since a lot of these outsourced companies’ support staff do not have a very good grasp of the English language.

This means that when it comes to very technical problems, it gets even more confusing trying to understand what the heck they’re saying. Luckily, if you choose HostMonster, all you’re going to hear is the good old American accent.
Native English speakers with a pretty good grasp on the language means no more long winded phone calls costing you time and money trying to fix what might be a very simple problem.

Another cool thing about HostMonster is that they use cPanel, the most recognized and used hosting panel possibly available. Renowned for being one of the best, safest and most flexible panels, cPanel is a great system to use; well done HostMonster.

They provide all the usual goodies, such as unlimited hosting domain, unlimited GB file transfers, and also includes $75 Google Adwords credit.

However, there are some downsides to HostMonster, which we’ll now discuss.

For starters, HostMonster only allow 100 databases per user, because of a Limited SQL database policy they have. A hundred databases can get used up pretty quickly, so you may want to take this into account when choosing a web hosting provider.

Also their support team seem a little over-zealous when it comes to scam protection; they seem to have a tendency to suspend customer’s accounts without good reason, meaning people’s businesses are stopped and may cause financial problems for people in the long run; not good.

However, even with those two problems, HostMonster is a reliable, U.S home-grown web hosting company, and if you’re looking for ease of use, and strong customer support, HostMonster is the way to go.

I like the simple CMS installation specially. I’m using it for my autoblog network and love it so far. There were some downtimes but they fixed it and now it works quite well. Considering the price I highly recommend it.
